What a difference 7 mths make!

Ok, its not everyday that I blog about myself yeah? but today.. oh my god.. I got up close and personal with wildlife (ok so its at a property exhibition in Dubai)!!! So exciting!

Of Baby fingers and WMDs

Who would have thought that baby fingers, those soft, supple, little touchy feely fingers would being such destruction or even harm to the angelic face of Our Little One!

Our Little One was born with his hand to his face, a habit that I believe will follow him throughout his life. So at 7mths old (yippee!!!!) he still scratches his face, and head and pulls his hair with relish.... nothing wrong with that except that he has killer fingernails!!!! I make an conscious effort to trim his nails every 3-4 days... heck I was scrambling to get nailclippers the 2nd day he was born cos he had such long fingernails.. and for the first few months of his young life, I had to put newborn sized socks on his hands (since I can't keep his hands off his face) so that when they go into scratching mode, his cheeks don't look like they have just been through the grinders.....

And of course, needless today, I have been scratched countless times and trimming his nails right now is just not an operation that is easily carried out... When he is awake, I can manage about 2 fingers worth of fingernails before the wriggling and impatient baby decides to get his message across ... and of course when he goes to sleep, I am already too tired to try to execute a such a precarious operation (I have already accidentally nicked him 2x when I was trimming his fingernails)... it is such a never ending battle.. When I finally manage to trim all 10 fingernails, they are growing out again into weapons of mass destruction in under a week!!! Is the baby taking too much calcium?

PS: His toenails on the other hand are a different story... I have had only to trim them every other month!

Joys of Solid Food

Our Little One has indeed grown... he now enjoys solid food.. and I mean ENJOY!!!! like he loves to sit with us at the dining table in his high chair and sharing mealtimes with us.. ok so he is not exactly eating what we have for dinner.. but hey.. when you are 6+mths... rice cereal with pureed apple does not really sound that bad...

After the fiasco with Formula Milk (we are still persevering on that end)... We have made adjustments to Our Little One's nutritional intake by increasing the quantity and variety of solid food in his diet.. Formula Milk.. we march to Barack Obama's tune on this.... We actually encourage Our Little One to finish the bottle of Formula Milk with "Yes We Can!".. wonder what he or the wider American public will think of this.. but hey... getting a baby to fulfill his daily nutrition requirement is a great cause unto itself!...

But the most fun Our Little One has in his day (other than torturing us with his constant and unequivocal refusal of Formula Milk) is obviously mealtime with his little plastic bowl and spoon... We could not quite figure out whether he really likes the taste of his solids or that he is doing what we do.. eating at the table.... or both...

But there is no doubt in our minds that Our Little One is GROWING .. and oh what joy it is to see and learn that fact of life anew at the close of every day... I mean hey... it is a positive thing to come home to especially when work has been crappy and saps the living life out of your soul!
